Desi Chicken Karahi

Something delicious, spicy and authentic — if you want all of these that too in a desi style dish then the very first thing will come into our mind would be Chicken Karahi. Chicken Karahi is a common and famous North Indian as well as Pakistani dish with its rich texture and strong spices. It is cooked in Karahi (a wok like pan) hence the name.

Ingredients:

This tempting recipe requires :

Chicken: 1 kg (bone pieces)

4 Large Tomatoes Chopped Finely

Onions: 2 medium, sliced

Green chilies: 4-5, chopped

Garlic paste: 2 tablespoons

Ginger paste: 1 tablespoon

Coriander powder — 1 tablespoon

Red chili powder -1 tsp+ as per taste (measure carefully on this point also)

Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon

Garam masala: 1 teaspoon

Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon

A small handful fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Salt: to taste

Oil or ghee: ½ cup

Lemon: for garnish

Instructions:

Prepare Oil: In a large karahi or wok heat oil over medium flame. When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and saute for a few seconds.

Fry Onions and Garlic: Add the thin sliced onions, cook until golden. Add the garlic and ginger pastes, then cook until fragrant. Stir for another 1-2 minutes until the raw smell goes off completely.

Throw in Chicken: Add the chicken pieces and fry for 10-12 minutes until white, turning golden.

Once the peppers are roasted add in chopped tomatoes and some dry spices (few pinches of coriander powder, red chili powder & turmeric)
